The Jantar Mantar monument in Jaipur, the biggest observatory in India and a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a collection of nineteen architectural astronomical instruments completed in 1734. Allowing the observation of astronomical positions with the naked eye, the various instruments offer precise measurements of time, tracking constellations and observing the orbits around the sun. The 'Vrihat Samrat Yantra' in Jaipur is the world's largest stone gnomon sundial that measures time to an accuracy of 2 seconds using the shadow cast from the sun.
