Artist Statement
'Stairway to Heaven' is a photographic series which explores the aesthetics of the geometric structures of the 'Jantar Mantar' astronomical observatories in India. Combining religion, science and art, these magnificent monuments are a mesmerizing part of India's cultural heritage. Fascinated by the forms and textures of these ancient structures constructed to probe the universe, I have visited the observatories in Jaipur and Delhi.
As a visual storyteller, I aim to capture places, moments & experiences, and to visually share these instances, perspectives, and stories with my audiences. My mission is to take the viewer on a journey, whether to visit a remote community through my documentary work, or to another universe with my more abstract images.
