Tina Guo

About the Artist

Tina Guo is a multidisciplinary artist based in Toronto, Canada, and Baltimore, USA. Right now their studio practice focuses on painting and creative writing. Their work is often set in magical landscapes where the body and its surroundings become interchanging vessels. They are interested in the erotic as a simultaneous longing, reaching, and holding of the homeland, people around them, and the natural world. They are currently researching expressions of desire and empathy between diasporic, queer, and neurodivergent bodies.

Mediums: Oil painting, Sculpture, Book-making

Artist Statement

"I paint pictures of youths who co-exist with flora and fauna. The youths have narrow eyes and cool hair. Like me. Many of them are bound by their hands and feet. Sometimes they are making love. Other times they are being violated. Either way, they are always striving and reaching for one another. I write fiction and poetry that coincide with my paintings. Twice a year, I culminate everything into a printed, hand-bound art book."
